Success Lessons I Learned From the World’s Highest Paid Living Artist

by BJ on January 9, 2014

Hi, there!

I recently had the chance to meet and talk to the world's highest paid living artist – David Choe who is worth $200 million dollars. I am eager to share with you what I learned, so keep on reading.

Watch my video for more details from my meeting.

If you were in my place, what would be the one question that you would ask him?

For me, the most challenging part is to get motivated so I asked him

How Do You Stay Motivated?

Now, here comes the good part – it is something each and every one of you can do! He explained that he looks back at his life and finds the moments that made him really motivated and inspired and tries to re-create them. Let me elaborate: me, for example, I was most motivated when I was at an unfulfilling job that I hated. To stay motivated, I shouldn't be in a situation that my job is too easy and convenient.

Every person has different motivators. For example, you might get inspired when you are with people, or just the other way around – when you are alone. Observe yourself, and recreate your motivators.

The other thing that David Shaw mentioned was being disciplined. Without that you can only achieve so much.

When I first started this business I was terrified by having a 9 to 5 job, and having to be somewhere every day. But Dave explained my that being your own boss doesn't mean you will have free time. You need to be a tougher boss to yourself and work 9 to 9!

Success only comes to the ones who exploit their unique talents and do something with them. Success will not come to you if you do not take proactive steps to always do your best.
